Standing Firm on the Promises of God: Week 1

September 2, 2018 | Kyle Brenon | Matthew 7:24-27

Sometimes we need to honestly ask ourselves, what do I really believe? Let's face it, we live in a world of skepticism and doubt, where we are told all “TRUTH” is relative and lies are far easier to come by than facts. Now as much as ever, we need so badly to find solid footing on which to stand.

Do you stand on your own wisdom, your education or your individual influence? Or do you truly believe the word of God, not just the parts your experiences lend evidence to, but the hard stuff, the stuff only the eyes of faith can see? Without a rock solid foundation, we will be easily blown whichever way the wind goes, and we will quickly find ourselves adrift with no anchor. All throughout scripture God gives us anchor points. Places we can securely tie our faith to without fear, and hold on to tightly, regardless of the storms around us. Our goal throughout our new sermon series, is to firmly anchor our faith in God’s promises to us, and to bring us confidence that even though the world around us may crumble, God’s word does not!

If in this life we can rest in anything, it is that we can stand firmly on the promises of GOD.

Matthew 7:24-27 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
