Standing Firm on the Promises of God - Week 8

October 21, 2018 | Kyle Brenon | 2 Peter 1:3-11

This week we conclude our 8-week sermon series “Standing Firm on the Promises of God.” We began our series by looking at Matthew 7:24-27 where Jesus tells those who were following Him that everyone who hears His words and does them will be like a wise man who builds his house on a rock. There is great wisdom, and great blessing that comes when we follow the words of Christ, and when we put that faith into action by truly trusting God’s promises. But what is the ultimate purpose of God's promises played out in our lives? Is it only for our blessing, or is there something greater?

October 14, 2018 | Kyle Brenon | 1 John 1:9

Do you ever find yourself carrying around the weight of your past sins? Do your old mistakes ever sneak up behind you in an attempt to remind you of who you “used to be?” Sometimes we can believe the lie that we are too far gone or that our past sins are so bad that we can no longer be of any use to God. When we find ourselves taken captive by this lie, let’s remind ourselves of the power of the gospel and the all sufficient price that was payed for us on the cross. The enemy loves to tell us we are unforgivable, unlovable and unusable, but the gospel tells us differently!

October 7, 2018 | Kyle Brenon | Philippians 4:4-7

We have looked at a number of God’s promises throughout this series. Matthew 11:28, “Come to me all who are weary and I will give you rest” - James 4:6-7, “God gives grace to the humble… Resist the devil and he will flee from you” - 2 Corinthians 12:9, “His grace is sufficient and His power is made perfect in our weakness” - And last week, Romans 8:28, “ALL things work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose.” When put together these promises build for us quite a foundation to stand on, and these are only four of the many promises given to us in scripture!

September 30, 2018 | Kyle Brenon | Romans 8:26-28

Do you ever worry that you have made such a mess of things, that there is no way they could ever be turned around? Or have you ever felt like you somehow wandered down a trail that suddenly ended without warning, and now you are destined to wander the wilderness forever? Maybe, it just seems like no matter what you do, everything is stacked against you and you just can’t catch a break. When we find ourselves in impossible situations, do we panic, do we furiously try to work our way out of it, or do we trust the God of the impossible?

September 23, 2018 | Jake Mitchell | 2 Corinthians 12:7-10

So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations,[a] a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. (2 Corinthians 12:7-10)

Standing Firm on the Promises of God: Week 3

September 16, 2018 | Kyle Brenon | James 4:6-10

This week we continue in part 3 of our sermon series “Standing Firm on the Promises of God.” In this series we are looking to the rock solid promises of God in order to find a firm foundation on which to stand. Our adversary lies to us every chance he gets, and if we aren’t anchoring ourselves in God’s word, we are quickly and easily led astray by lies often disguised as truth. This week we look at James 4:6-10 where God’s word promises us that when we humble ourselves before our gracious and loving God, good things happen!

Sometimes we need to honestly ask ourselves, what do I really believe? Lets face it, we live in a world of skepticism and doubt, where we are told all “TRUTH” is relative and lies are far easier to come by than facts. Now as much as ever, we need so badly to find solid footing on which to stand.
