Community Group Questions
This week we continue with part two of our sermon series “fearLESS”. If we allow it, fear will follow us everywhere we go, and it has a tendency to sneak up on us when we least expect it. Fear can quickly cause us to turn our focus away from God's promises, and onto the distractions that jump out in front of us. Today we look at Mark, chapter 4 and the account of Jesus calming a dangerous storm as he and his disciples sail across the sea of Galilee.
It seems like no matter what we are going through, and no matter how close we may be to Jesus, we are still susceptible to fear. The truth is, the antidote to a fearful heart is not stronger courage… It is stronger FAITH!

Discuss:
1. When you watch your favorite movie for the 100th time, knowing how it ends, do you still get anxious during the most intense scenes, or are you excited knowing that it all works out in the end?
2. (Read Mark 4:38 again.) When fear creeps in, do you ever find yourself doubting that God really cares about you, like the disciples on the boat? If so, you’re not alone. Why do we often believe this lie?
3. If faith is the opposite of fear, how should we approach the things we continuously find ourselves afraid of? How can we increase our faith in the areas we feel faithless?
4. In Mark 4:41 the disciples ask each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!” When we stop and ask ourselves this same question, how should the answer affect our attitude towards the trials and fear we are facing?
Memorize/Meditate: Mark 4:39-40 “And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?”
