This week we will conclude our three week look at DISCIPLESHIP, as well as finish out our sermon series, “FOCUS”.
Today we look at Matthew 28:16-20 as we read some of Jesus' final words to his followers. Here he makes it very clear that disciples, make disciples! His command was not simply to make “converts” but to teach others to obey all he has commanded. Our God is a God of reconciliation and when He rescues us by His unending grace, He graciously calls us to join Him in reconciling others to Himself.

Discuss:
1. As we read the account of what were some of Jesus' last words to his disciples, think for a moment, if you had a chance to share one last thing with your friends and family, what your last words might be?
2. Jesus commands us as his followers to “Go and make Disciples”. Do we take this call seriously? What are we doing to intentionally answer this call?
3. I often hear people misquote Matthew 28:20… What is the difference between teaching someone, and teaching someone “to obey”? How does this difference play out practically?
4. 2 Corinthians 5 says we have been reconciled to God through Christ. How can a deeper understanding of this encourage us in our calling to be reconcilers as well?
5. Making disciples is a difficult task, and there is no short cut. It takes time, energy and a genuine love for other people. What can we do to encourage one another as we strive to obey Christ in our calling to “go and make disciples”?
Memorize/meditate: 2 Corinthians 5:20 “Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.”
