Christmas is coming!
There is no slowing it down as it will be here in no time. For many of us, this time of year is exciting! The lights, the decorations, the chill in the air, even the music (Yes… I am one of those people who breaks out the Christmas music in November… #noshame). For some of us, this time of year can be quite difficult. It could be the stress of the season, the fear of unmet expectations, or the memories of loved ones who won’t be here to share it with us this time around. No matter who we are though, the Christmas season is a little different than any other season.
One thing is for sure, with all the distractions that come our way, we can easily find ourselves missing out on the real reason we celebrate. What if this year instead of being consumed with trying to meet those expectations, including our own, we were to slow down and just sit in awe of the miraculous gift we have been given? In the midst of all the chaos, what would it take for us to lay aside the noise and focus on the arrival of “Immanuel" (God with us)? With all the things competing for our time and attention, what might we need to put away in order to prepare Him room?
Isaiah 7:14
"Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel (God with us)."
