Ready for Battle: Wk 6

Community Group Questions

We continue with week 6 of our sermon series “Ready for Battle” as we look deeper into the call Paul gives us to take up the armor of God. Now that we have carefully looked at each of the tools God has given us and by God’s grace “taken them up,” what is it that God would have us do? What are our orders as we stand firm against the schemes of the enemy? And whose battle is this anyway?

Ephesians 6:13-18 "Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and  supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,"

Discuss:

1. The battle plan we are given in Ephesians 6:10-20 is STAND AND PRAY.

- What is your reaction to the PRAY part of the plan? What does our reaction say about our current attitude toward prayer?

2. What is the role of the Holy Spirit in prayer? What does it mean to pray "in the spirit"?

- Discuss the importance of praying in the Spirit when it comes to the effectiveness of prayer.

3. Why does Paul differentiate between “Prayer” and “Supplication”?

- What, does it look like it pray without ceasing or at all times?

4. Given what we've learned how can we adopt a Pray First approach as individuals and a church without creating another to-do list?

Pray: Our prayer for this week is - Ephesians 3:14 - 21
