A Life of Irony vs. A Life of Integrity
This week, we are probing into a crucial aspect of intimacy with God: living a life of integrity.
The world would make us think we can live any way we want and still be able to call upon God to deliver us from all of our troubles. There is some truth to this—God is faithful when we are faithless, and He is always capable to hear and heal us in our time of need. However, this kind of philosophy misses out on a huge blessing of the Christian life, that of daily intimacy with Him.
Is there a current disconnect in the life you present to others and your true secret life? In every generation there are those Christian leaders who fall into the trap of thinking they are somewhat above the need to live with integrity, contrary to the guidance they give their followers. This is incredibly dangerous thinking. In Psalm 15, King David describes the type of person who is truly intimate with God, those who walk with integrity. He ends the psalm with a powerful promise for believers that is still available to us today. Jesus declares in John 15, “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”

"O Lord, who shall sojourn in your tent? Who shall dwell on your holy hill? He who walks blamelessly and does what is right and speaks truth in his heart; who does not slander with his tongue and does no evil to his neighbor, nor takes up a reproach against his friend; in whose eyes a vile person is despised, but who honors those who fear the Lord; who swears to his own hurt and does not change; who does not put out his money at interest and does not take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved.”
